Course Layout

Module 1: Yoga Foundations

In this course you'll get a deeper dive into your yoga practice; get an introduction to the history and alignment of asanas, key yoga terms and pranayama. This is a great place to start for anyone who wants to become a yoga teacher or just understand their own practice better. We will introduce the Big Bliss Methodology of teaching and running yoga classes. This course counts as 16 Continuing Education hours for teachers Registered with Yoga Alliance, or 16 hours towards your 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training.

Module 2: Basic Yoga Anatomy

In this course, we'll be getting familiar with basic anatomy concepts for yoga teachers. We will begin to learn about the skeletal system, major bones, muscular systems and directional terms. We'll discuss bone proportion and orientation and how they affect postures as well as exploring the mind/body connection. This course counts as 16 Continuing Education hours for teachers Registered with Yoga Alliance, or 16 hours towards your 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training.

Module 3: Becoming a Yoga Teacher

Get a crash course on everything you need to know about your career off the mat. Learn first hand from seasoned industry professionals about finding different jobs, invoicing, insurance and marketing yourself and creating an amazing environment for your students. You'll get some tips on cueing and begin to practice teaching. You'll leave this training ready with ideas on how to start your yoga career. This course counts as 16 Continuing Education hours for teachers Registered with Yoga Alliance, or 16 hours towards your 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training.

Module 4: Asana and Sequencing

This section gives the practitioner an introduction to sequencing yoga classes and some hands on experience creating fun flowing classes. After receiving feedback from the classes they create, the students will lead a class of their own. We also go over class management, non-transitional movement within postures take a few master classes together. The student will leave with a few fresh flows of their own to take to their classes. This course counts as 16 Continuing Education hours for teachers Registered with Yoga Alliance, or 16 hours towards your 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training.

Module 5: Pranayama and Meditation 1

Gain a deeper understanding of meditation and pranayama and the role they play in the practice of yoga. This course features a breakdown of key terms, meditation methods, and pranayama techniques. We will cover the science behind the techniques practiced, as well as an introduction to subtle energy theory. This course counts as 16 Continuing Education hours for teachers Registered with Yoga Alliance, or 16 hours towards your 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training.

Module 6: Pranayama and Meditation 2

Dive deeply into the practice of meditation and pranayama as we build on the techniques we’ve learned and explore new methods. We will examine the anatomy and physiology of breath, and study pranayama-specific contraindications. This course will also include an opportunity to teach pranayama and meditation to your peers and ways in which you can make these techniques accessible to the public.This course counts as 16 Continuing Education hours for teachers Registered with Yoga Alliance, or 16 hours towards your 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training.

Module 7: Anatomy and Asana

This module expands on our first anatomy module and details a deeper knowledge of movement, biomechanics and the human body. We also dive into how and when to use hands-on assists as a teacher. The student will participate and lead lots of movement exercises with these lessons in mind. This course counts as 16 Continuing Education hours for teachers Registered with Yoga Alliance, or 16 hours towards your 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training.

Module 8: Responsible Teaching

Cultural appropriation, racism, guru culture, sexual exploitation, spiritual bypassing are all problems that require dismantling by leaders in the yoga community. We review these issues, and explore ways to identify them within ourselves and our communities and examine how to correct them. The second part of this weekend focuses on how we can lead safe classes to various populations in our community such as seniors using safe and responsible language. This course counts as 16 Continuing Education hours for teachers Registered with Yoga Alliance, or 16 hours towards your 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training.

Module 9: History and Philosophy

In order to lead yoga classes in a meaningful way and honour its roots, we must understand them. This weekend is about diving deep into three major yogic philosophies; The Bhagavad Gita, The 8 Limbs of Yoga, and the Yamas and the Niyamas. The student will leave this training with a strong understanding about yogic philosophy. This course counts as 16 Continuing Education hours for teachers Registered with Yoga Alliance, or 16 hours towards your 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training.

Module 10: Advanced Sequencing and Cueing

This module takes the student through more advanced styles of sequencing beyond a standard peak pose class. We cover teaching to beginners, new styles of flow, yin, restorative, and lots of practicum. Even experienced teachers will leave this training armed with fresh ideas to lead their classes with. This course counts as 16 Continuing Education hours for teachers Registered with Yoga Alliance, or 16 hours towards your 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training.

Module 11: Trauma informed Yoga Teaching

As group leaders our words have power and the words we use, movements we make and music we choose can impact our students' well-being. This one-day module will examine the different ways in which trauma can affect our practice and we will look at the ways we can lead in a trauma informed way. This course counts as 8 Continuing Education hours for teachers Registered with Yoga Alliance, or 16 hours towards your 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training.

Module 12: Theming and Music

This training will guide you on the creation of a yoga sequence, meditation and pranayama within a theme. We can approach themes in lots of ways including yoga philosophy, life-advice, intentions and more! The second part of the day we will discuss how to pick the right music to lead your classes. This course counts as 8 Continuing Education hours for teachers Registered with Yoga Alliance, or 16 hours towards your 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training.

Module 13: Putting it all Together

Our final module involves taking all of your knowledge throughout our 12 courses and using it to teach yoga. You'll refine your cueing, anatomy, sequencing and philosophy skills to deliver impactful, challenging and interesting yoga classes to your students!
